I hardly like to mention this as I get at least 3 calls a week now on this very subject. It is important though that you use a company to route your calls that offer the best rates available and not just those that pay them the best commissions.

We use a broker that will shop around for a router that best suits your call plan. Typically most telephone bills these days are 50% mobile calls. These are expensive with any supplier as the majority of the call cost goes to the mobile carrier and not BT.

BT is now offering some good packages but we have found that they don’t offer most companies what they need. The average phone call is less than 3 minutes long, so while capping is great if all your calls are long ones, it will be in the shorter calls they win it back.

With rates for local and national calls under 2p per minute only calls over 5 minutes will make any saving, all those under will cost more.

It is now possible to save on line rentals as well. The better companies will offer to take over the whole BT bill for you, commonly saving a further 10% over BT.
